My personal favorite is the 48/96. If you are at a busy station day two can kind of suck. I've run almost 26 calls in the first 24 hours. On day 2 you may have to take a cat nap but it's really not that bad. If you're that busy you don't get that tired. If it's not that busy take a nap. The hardest thing is if you have department training the second say where you have to sit in a class room, say for infectious control. Tough to stay awake then.

Let me know if you have more questions about it. We switched in the last couple of years. Most of us love it. It's great only having to come in once a week.Firefighter/Paramedichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16036844976936171167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7548059047094620179.post-17092875726434594352010-12-01T14:49:19.253-08:002010-12-01T14:49:19.253-08:00My question about the 48/96 schedule is this: In a...My question about the 48/96 schedule is this: In a busy station, doesn't it suck to run 20 or 30 calls for that 48?

Especially if 5 of those calls were between midnight and 6 on the first night? Doesn't it make day two of the 48 kind of suck?

I ask this because there are some in my department pushing for us to go from the 24/48 schedule to 48/96.

Have you worked both schedules, and what are your thoughts?Divemedichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14583007051962299381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7548059047094620179.post-15718672816563326222010-11-19T20:11:31.704-08:002010-11-19T20:11:31.704-08:00My weekends are 7 days long. : )My weekends are 7 days long. : )kipspophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04071941381405877991noreply@blogger.com
